Job Description

The Research Assistant is a member of MarCom Group’s Strategy, Research, and Analytics department and will be responsible for assisting the Research Analyst in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting market data on consumers, competitors, and industry trends to provide actionable insights that inform marketing strategies, product development, and business decisions. They will conduct surveys, focus groups, and data analysis to identify potential markets, customer preferences, and market opportunities, ultimately helping companies understand their market position and optimize marketing campaigns.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Research Assistant position does not supervise other employees.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with different departments (marketing, finance, product development, etc.) to provide data-driven insights and support strategic initiatives. 
  • Monitor industry developments and market dynamics to identify emerging trends and potential opportunities.  
  • Manage research projects from conception to completion, including setting timelines, defining research objectives, following budgetary requirements, and ensuring quality standards. 
  • Understand and adhere to all compliance requirements, policies, and procedures associated with conducting qualitative research for the general public and federal employees.
  • Work with the client to develop research goals and key research questions, and to identify appropriate metrics to measure success.
  • Conduct thorough research through surveys, interviews, focus groups, market studies, competitor analysis, and data mining to gather relevant information. 
  • Develop, write, and administer surveys and analyze results.
  • Develop reports and present findings to internal teams, leadership, and clients.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions. 
  • Knowledge of customer research, psychological research, and market research
  • Knowledge of qualitative research processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience conducting qualitative research
  • Experience navigating federal requirements for research projects (desired)
  • Experience researching for marketing and advertising and/or recruitment marketing (desired) 
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
